Centennial Public School’s vacant kindergarten play area will soon be vacant no more.
The school has been granted $47,000 in funds from the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board for the construction of a new kindergarten play structure. The old play structure was removed when it was deemed unsafe.
A homeless drop-in shelter run by the Centretown-based Odawa Native Friendship Centre will be closing next month after the city rejected the centre’s latest funding requests.

Somerset House, which has been empty for years since a partial collapse in 2007, has recently gone up for lease. The owner is slated to start construction in the spring.Somerset House at the corner of Bank and Somerset streets may be getting a facelift as early as June.
