Centretown will see new life come into an old downtown building in the upcoming weeks. North and Navy, a fine dining Italian restaurant, will soon open its doors at 226 Nepean St. The location was recently vacated by Beckta – widely acknowledged as one the city’s finest dining spots and now situated on Elgin Street.

With the Canadian dollar hovering around 80 cents US, some small Centretown businesses are feeling the pinch.

Teams from across the city will come together next weekend to play the only hockey tournament on the Rideau Canal this year in the seventh annual Beaver Cup Pond Hockey Tournament.

Childcare workers in Centretown are encouraged by Ontario’s planned dollar-an-hour increase in wages for employees across the province, but they say they’ll also be closely tracking the impact and sustainability of the income boost.
