Part of the Queensway will be closed this weekend for the rapid replacement of the Kent Street overpass.
The highway will be closed at Kent Street from 11 p.m. on Friday until 11 p.m. Sunday. A detour will run south on Bronson Ave,. to Riverside Drive.
Crews have been building the new bridges on Chamberlain Avenue alongside the existing overpass over the past months. The rapid replacement method will see the old, 400-tonne bridges lifted out of the highway and replaced within a 48-hour window.
The Government of Ontario has spent approximately $17 million on the Kent Street replacement.
The 50-year-old bridges carry approximately 160,000 vehicles every day.
