Despite new laws regulating the sale of alcohol, smaller local stores such as The Red Apron are left out based on strict regulations such as their store size.This holiday season there is a new reason to say cheers. Consumers will soon be able to pick up a six-pack of beer along with their milk, eggs and bread at select Ontario grocery stores.

Council introduces new e-cig bylaws

New bylaws make it difficult for e-cig users to smoke in public places. City council carried a motion at its meeting on Nov. 25 to introduce new bylaws that regulate the smoking of non-tobacco combustible substances and electronic cigarettes in public and work places. This also includes the smoking of herbal products in water pipes.
Jewish exhibit seeks funds for sesquicentennial celebration
Organizers are raising funds for an exhibit to commemorate the Jewish contribution to Canada. The exhibit, titled Canadian Jewish Experience: A Tribute to Canada 150, will be launched in 2017 for Canada’s 150th celebration.
Parking lot plan delays seniors’ residence
Ottawa’s planning committee has approved a temporary parking lot at 330 Gilmour St., delaying construction of an eight-storey senior’s residence approved for the site by at least three more years.
