At 2 a.m. today, clocks sprang forward by one hour to mark the switch to daylight saving time.
Because of the shift, Canadians are now able to enjoy an extra hour of evening sunlight. However, they will also experience extra darkness in the morning.
The Ottawa Citizen published recommendations to combat losing sleep, such as preparing the body to sleep at night by dimming the lights in the house and avoiding electronic screens.
Another recommendation is to go outside early and absorb the morning sunlight to feel more awake for the day ahead.
This marks the 100th anniversary of changing clocks to gain an hour of sunlight.
They will be turned back this year on Nov. 6, also at 2 a.m.
