The Social Planning Council of Ottawa will hold free workshops on business planning for immigrant and ethnic minority entrepreneurs. Workshops will focus on writing a business plan, building a customer base and marketing, management and accounting and Canadian laws and taxation. Deadline for applications is Nov. 4. The Yuletide Fair of Dominion-Chalmers United Church, 355 Cooper St. will open at 9:30 a.m. Admission is free, but luncheon tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for children under 12. Sittings are at 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Items for sale will include home baking, candy, jams and pickles, speciality foods, books, toys handicrafts, knitting, jewellery and plants. There will also be gift baskets and a White Elephant sale. The building is wheelchair accessible.
St. Bartholomew’s Church, 125 MacKay Ave., will hold its annual tea and bazaar from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Home baking, jams and preservatives, attic treasures, a Christmas table, books and CDs and toys will be on sale. Admission is free and there is barrier-free access. For more information call 745-7834.
The Christmas Treasures Bazaar will be held at Rideau Park United Church, 2203 Alta Vista Drive, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.
Trinity United Church, 1099 Maitland Avenue, will hold a Christmas bazaar from 9 a.m. until 1p.m. Baking, jams, jellies, pickles, crafts, jewelry, toys, silent auction, china (tea cups, glass, crystal, figurines), gently-used books, videos, CDs, DVDs, and easily portable Attic, Basement and Condo locker treasures.

The Ottawa Youth Orchestra will present a concert at 2:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Ottawa Technical Learning Centre, 485 Donald St. The OYO concertmaster, Yolanda Bruno, and assistant concertmaster, Sarah Williams, are the featured soloists in Bach’s concerto in D minor for two violins. Tickets will be available at the door for $12; $7 for seniors and students, and $5 for children, or $30 subscription to the 3-concert OYO series.
