Kemal Kirisci, a professor of political science at Bogazici University, Turkey, will give a public lecture on “Immigration Issues in EU-Turkish Relations: Harmonization or Externalization?” from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. In the Senate Room, 608 Robertson Hall, Carleton University. The lecture is sponsored by Centre for European Studies at Carleton University.

Feb. 17

The Ontario Cheerleading Federation’s East Regional Competition, featuring dance, cheers and stunts, will take place at 3 p.m. at Carleton University. The event is open to the public.

The Ottawa Women’s Canadian Club luncheon will be held at 12:30 in the ballroom of the Fairmont Chateau Laurier Hotel on Wellington Street. The vent will feature an organic seed exchange and sale, an organic mini-market, gardening workshops, and organic food and snacks. Friends of the Central Experimental Farm is sponsoring an escorted, all-inclusive road trip to Canada Blooms Show in Toronto. Price for FCEF members (double occupancy) is $225, non-members $265. The Glebe Centre, 950 Bank St., is seeking mature volunteers to operate its gift shop and commit one day a week (Monday, Wednesday or Friday) between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Volunteer positions are also available on an on-call/casual basis. The centre is also seeking volunteers to greet and welcome residents, families and visitors as a main reception hostess. This includes some clerical duties.
