Host country Switzerland gave Rachel Homan’s Ottawa team its first loss on Thursday at the World Junior Curling Championships.
The Swiss managed to break the Canadians' unbeaten run in the final draw of the round-robin play, defeating it by a score of 8-6.
Still, Homan and her Ottawa Curling Club team — which is made up of third Emma Miskew, second Laura Crocker and lead Lynn Kreviazuk — finished first in the round-robin action with an 8-1 record heading into the playoffs.
Homan will face Sweden in the No. 1 versus No. 2 Page playoff. The winner of the Canada-Sweden match advances to the final on Sunday.
