Queen Elizabeth Driveway and Colonel By Drive will be temporarily closed to traffic Saturday and Sunday, as the National Capital Commission makes preparations for skating season on the Rideau Canal, according to a news release on the NCC’s website.
The north and southbound lanes of Colonel By Drive between Bronson Place North and Bronson Place South will be closed from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., though the access ramps will remain open.
Motorists won’t be able to enter Colonel By Drive from Main Street on Saturday, but will regain access on Sunday. The north and southbound lanes between Daly Avenue and Pretoria Bridge will also be closed from 7 a.m. Saturday until noon on Sunday.
The NCC said the north and southbound lanes of Queen Elizabeth Driveway between Fifth Avenue and Bank Street will be closed Saturday afternoon from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.
The NCC intends to complete road work in front of the Ottawa Convention Centre, as well as set up change rooms, washrooms and snack bars along the Rideau Canal as part of their early preparations for the winter skating season.
