Voters from all across Canada could help fund the revitalization of a downtown Ottawa park.
The Jack Purcell Park Project, which will give downtown Ottawa its first accessible play area for children of all abilities, has earned a spot in The Pepsi Refresh Project.
Jack Purcell Park, which serves children of Elgin Street Public School, the Jack Purcell Community Centre, and children living downtown, is one of 300 applicants accepted for this round of voting.
The project will include planting and protecting trees as well as building a play structure designed for young children
The hope is also to improve both health and safety and accessibility by re-surfacing the grounds with recycled tire mulch.
Over the past year, volunteers from Elgin Street Public School have raised $71,000 of the needed $130,000.
If The Jack Purcell Project is voted in one of the top two spots in the contest, it will be awarded $25,000 by Pepsi.
Currently, Purcell Park is 35th out of the 300 applicants. People can vote every day until the contest concludes on Dec. 1.
