Another Centretown rink headed to a national curling championship.
Rachel Homan’s rink from the Ottawa Curling Club won the Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts Sunday afternoon in Thornhill, Ont.
The rink of Homan, Emma Miskew, Alison Kreviazuk and Lisa Weagle will head to nationals in Charlottetown after a 9-6 win over Krista McCarville’s rink out of Thunder Bay.
Homan finished on top of the standings with an 8-1 record, which included a round-robin win over McCarville on Thursday by the same score. Her only loss came to Susan McKnight’s Uxbridge rink on Wednesday.
Homan’s rink, national junior champions from last year, will now prepare for the national championships Feb 19-27 in P.E.I.
They join Mathew Camm’s junior men’s rink as provincial champions from the Ottawa Curling Club.
Camm’s rink is 1-1 after Sunday’s play at the M&M Meat Shops Canadian junior men’s championship in Calgary.
