The controversial parole office on Gilmour Street is moving today.
Moving vans were seen outside the 191 Gilmour St. location this morning. The parole office’s new home in the Jackson Building at 122 Bank St.
“Congratulations to everyone who helped bring this saga to a closure,” said local activist Albert Galpin in an email. Galpin was the organizer and lynchpin of a longstanding campaign to relocate the office away from Elgin Street Public School.
After years of delay and procrastination, the federal government earlier this summer finally confirmed in an email to Ottawa Centre MP Paul Dewar that the office would be moved to its new location by the end of August.
