Erin Kelly, the Ottawa Chamber of Commerce’s executive director, has successfully brought the chamber’s office back downtown.
The chamber recently moved from the basement of a building in an industrial area of west-end Ottawa just off Woodward Drive last month. Their downtown office doors officially opened on Sept. 21 on Somerset Street West..
Kelly said in an email that “our prominence and influence in the city has grown tremendously, as has our membership, which is why we can now afford to move our offices back downtown.”
The chamber serves as an advocacy and networking organization for commercial interests. To be effective in that role, it needs to be visible in Centretown, she said.
“We feel we’re sending the right message now by moving back downtown, where the majority of commerce takes place,” says Kelly.
“We moved because this new office space better projects the image of the chamber as a champion for business in our city and nationally and internationally.”
