Supt. Ed Keeley was promoted to deputy chief last night, succeeding Charles Bordeleau, who was appointed chief of police in March.
The Ottawa Police Services Board appointed Keeley to the position after a two-month internal search.
The 49-year-old Keeley has been a police officer for 27 years, having served with the Ontario Provincial Police before joining the Ottawa force after amalgamation. Keeley’s new position is effective immediately.
“Supt. Keeley’s years of experience, keen insight, and strong relationships are an asset to the organization, and I look forward to welcoming him to my executive command team,” Chief Charles Bordeleau said in the news release.
