Ottawa Public Health has issued a frostbite advisory for the coming week.
A cold front will roll in early Sunday night bringing low temperatures and snow, Environment Canada said in a special weather statement issued for Ottawa. Two to four centimeters of snowfall is expected.
By Tuesday, temperatures will drop to between -25 C and -35 C with the wind chill, according to Environment Canada.
Environment Canada warns that the cold front may bring poor visibility because of intense flurries. Wind gusts may reach between 50 and 70km/h.
Ottawa Public Health suggests covering as much exposed skin as possible and wearing several layers while outside.
The lowest recorded temperature in Ottawa in the month of January was -37 C on Jan. 19, 1925. The average temperature for the month is -10 C.
