DNA evidence led police to a suspect in connection to two unsolved robberies, including one in Centretown, according to a police press release.
The first incident happened in 2006 when the suspect broke into and entered a residence on Bank Street between Arlington Avenue and Catherine Street. The suspect left the residence with several stolen items, according to the press release.
In 2011, the suspect pulled out a knife and demanded cash at a fast food restaurant on Laurier Avenue East. There were no injuries.
Police recovered DNA evidence at both of these crime scenes that was only recently used to connect the suspect to the crimes.
Mark Howard Pyke, 45, was arrested on Jan. 28 and appeared in court on Jan. 29 on single counts of robbery, wearing a disguise, breaking and entering and possession of a break-in instrument, according to the press release.
