The City of Ottawa is hungry for new street food vendors.
Nine new on-street spaces in Ottawa’s Street Food Vending Program will become available in 2015.
The program, which was first launched in 2013, provides spaces around the city where food trucks and food carts can set up to peddle their wares. Applications for the vacant spots will be judged by a volunteer panel who will evaluate them based on, “proposed menu, business plan, level of vendor experience and overall contribution to Ottawa’s food scene,” according to an announcement from the city.
“Innovation” and “diversity in menu offerings” are also listed as criteria for a successful bid. In all, four cart spaces and five truck spaces have opened up, with two from each category located in Centretown.
The deadline for applications is Monday, Dec. 15 and successful applicants will be expected to begin operating in May 2015. For more information, including an application package, a list of available spots and an information package visit the City of Ottawa’s website.
