Ottawa Police are working with Ontario’s Ministry of the Attorney General to permanently tighten security at Ottawa’s Elgin Street courthouse, CFRA reported.
The new security practices will replace temporary measures brought in after last month’s shooting on Parliament Hill, including blocking off and locking both the entrances of Laurier Avenue using police tape.
Visitors to the courthouse currently enter through a smaller entrance on Elgin Street, where they are met by a police officer who asks why they have come to the courthouse and where they are going, reported CFRA.
The Police and the Ministry of the Attorney General are still dicussing specific details of what permanent changes will be made and when they will be implemented, CFRA reported.
