Ottawa Public Health is urging people to take precautions when going outside after issuing a new frostbite warning for Monday.
The windchill is forecast to be -35 C or lower making Sunday’s temperatures of up to -4 C a thing of the past.
Environment Canada, following the warning, has released a list of ways a person can protect him or herself from the extreme weather such as: wear a face mask and goggles if participating in winter activities such as skiing, snowmobiling and skating to protect the face from frostbite and windburn. Keep moving, especially hands and feet, to keep blood flowing to maintain body heat. Drink enough fluids, but avoid cold drinks and consume warm meals regularly.
To seek assistance for a homeless person, the OPH encourages people to call: 3-1-1.
