Spring may be coming but another frostbite warning is in effect

Don’t put your parka away just yet.

Ottawa Public Health has issued a frostbite advisory for Wednesday overnight and Thursday morning, despite this week’s initial temperatures of around 1 C.

Environment Canada forecasted temperatures to drop to -17 C Wednesday overnight, with the wind chill making it even colder.

Ottawa Public Health is urging people to take precautions when going outside. Precautions such as moving constantly, especially hands and feet, to keep blood flowing to maintain body heat. In such conditions a person should also drink enough fluid, avoid cold drinks, and consume warm meals regularly.

To seek assistance for a homeless person, the OPH encourages people to call: 3-1-1.
