The city’s immigrant population has a new advocate on the Ottawa Police Services Board. The body that oversees policing in the capital now includes Carl Nicholson, longtime executive director of the Centretown-based Catholic Immigration Centre.
The City of Ottawa has received a “D” on its efforts support affordable housing and to narrow the gap between the rich and poor, according to a report card issued by the Community Foundation of Ottawa.
With a loan and a new partnership, the Ottawa Folk Festival may be setting their sights on new venues in Centretown for their 2011 festival and beyond, said Bob Ledrew, a spokesman from the OFF.
