February a boon for independent movie houses
Bruce White can peg the demographic that typically frequents his business. As owner and programming director of the Bytowne Cinema on Rideau Street, which screens everything from art house to independent to foreign films, White knows the theatre attracts a different sort of crowd than Ottawa’s multiplexes.
Neighbourhood remembers late artist with exhibition
Dalal Chuaqui was an artist inspired by Centretown. Much of her life was spent painting the everyday scenes that the streets produced. She passed away Jan. 17 at the age of 81 but a posthumous exhibition is being organized to pay tribute to Chuaqui and her community-inspired artwork.
