Inside Out, the world’s third-largest queer film festival is growing.
Tiny hands will soon be occupied with guitars, violins, trumpets and flutes, every Tuesday afternoon at the Bronson Centre. These hands belong to the participants of the Orkidstra project, an initiative to give free music lessons to elementary school children who would not otherwise be able to afford them.
A little loom goes a long way. When Christine Mockett joined a local weavers’ and spinners’ group a few months ago, she never imagined her art would be affecting the lives of other weavers living thousands of kilometres away in a foreign country.
A local writer and musician has some extra cash in his pocket thanks to increased funding to the Ottawa Book Awards.
