Some prominent Centretown residents are voicing their concern about the impact Thursday’s transit strike vote is having on their community.

The only building that has been identified as a potential new site for the Ottawa parole office was open for discussion at a public consultation Wednesday evening.

In an audacious move that is a considerable setback for Mayor Larry O’Brien’s avowed goal of a balancing the city’s books, a coalition of 15 city councillors Wednesday cut short any more debate on the city budget and passed a document that calls for a 4.9-per-cent property tax increase and few programs funding cuts.

A number of Centretown organizations were honoured this week for their contributions to people with disabilities.
