UPDATED (October 20, 2015 - 1:15 am) Liberal candidate Catherine McKenna rose to victory in the Ottawa Centre riding, narrowly defeating the incumbent NDP candidate Paul Dewar, and closely shadowing the federal outcome as Justin Trudeau won a majority government.

Today is Election Day for the 42nd Canadian general election.

After four days of advance polling, Ottawa Centre had the highest voter turnout in Canada in this year’s federal election. 

Students are more politically engaged this federal election, according to candidates and students. There has been an increase in youth, aged 18 to 25, getting involved in campaigns and getting informed.
