Change doesn’t seem to come easily to Ottawa.

There's a new group in town that calls itself Our Ottawa. It's leaders, or at least those who proclaim themselves as its leaders, say it has 200 members. It wants to breathe new life into what it calls a moribund city council.

Imagine, if you will, primping and preparing for a date with your sweetheart on a Friday night. With dinner reservations at your favourite little hole in the wall in Chinatown or that family-run restaurant in Little Italy, you’re looking forward to some good food and conversation. But little do you know what awaits you and your bowels.

University students stop your whining. City council has approved the U-Pass pilot project and the City of Ottawa will set aside $3 million in this year’s budget to provide all students at Carleton University and the University of Ottawa with a transit pass at the reduced cost of $145 – a saving of $196.
