Members of Ottawa’s Somali community say police must regain their trust after incidents of alleged racism and brutality.
The plans for a pedestrian bridge over the Rideau Canal at Somerset Street survived amid deep cuts in the 2004 City draft budget released last week. The draft, which recommended cuts in everything from emergency services to public health, allocated $200,000 for the design of the bridge.
Centretown residents are parking their cars on their front lawns and foregoing public transit in response to a price-hike on city parking permits implemented late last year.
