Ministry ‘intended’ to close centre

Chris Davies of the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) contends there “was never any intent on our part to shut down the Ottawa-Carleton Wildlife Centre”.

In fact, the MNR carried out a very deliberate campaign to shut down the Wildlife Centre, which will leave area residents without any help for orphaned or injured wildlife this spring. read more

Some random thoughts

Some thoughts on your Nov. 22 issue:

Item 1. “Comment” page 4. I started biking again seriously at age 51 after my car was wrecked. That was in 1985. I have not replaced the car — I bike year round and I deplore those cyclists who drive as if they owned not only the road but the sidewalks as well. I support any action the police see fit to take – in fact I would like to see more action on their part. read more

Letter for November 22, 2002

Sens contribute to city

I cannot sit idly by without commenting on your front-page article about the Ottawa Senators. (Oct. 25)

If you cannot afford to buy Sens tickets, fine. I get that. I’m not a season’s ticket holder either, although I would like to be. I just can’t afford it. Though I will be going to some games through the odd initiative, as in the bus from the bar, or the soccer team outing, I wish I was doing more. I love the Sens, and it would really disgust me if we lost them. read more
