The Conservatives have a lot of explaining to do. Last year, their government found money to increase spending in the Prime Minister’s Office, yet it cut funds for veterans’ funerals.

It’s been a bad year for the Conservatives. Five members of the government’s caucus have left while under investigation or facing outright charges.

You can bet your bottom dollar that Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s Speech from the Throne on October 16 will assert repeatedly that his government is “focused on jobs and growth.” But just saying it doesn’t make it true. In fact, Mr. Harper has the worst economic growth record since the dismal days of R.B. Bennett.

Conservative Finance Minister Jim Flaherty likes to boast that "we will not raise taxes." There’s only one problem: that claim is not remotely true.
