A Centretown group is trying to wipe out a prostitution problem in its neighbourhood by convincing the courts to consider community impact statements in the sentencing of sex-trade workers and johns.

While reading your most recent issue, I became engulfed with rage. Not at anything in particular, but at the pervasive socialist undertones that run through everything in your rag.
Up with art, down with business. Away with trade and keep taxing the rich. It’s all rather tiring.
Then it hit me. Centretown News has always been this way. We all know it’s produced by students — here one day, gone the next — so what’s the common thread, the one constant?
Make surveys public
It’s always nice when the government decides to consult the people on important issues. We’re all in favour of responsive, accountable leadership.
But when the white knights of government go to all the trouble and expense to commission gaggles of tele-surveyers, reams of mail-outs and extensive public consultations, results aren’t just a desired effect — they’re an absolute necessity.
