For 11 years, the Jericho Road program has provided mentally ill homeless men with safety, stability and spirituality to reclaim their lives.
Cloaked in anonymity, it’s tucked away in a nook in the heart of Centretown. The elaborate, gray-stoned building stands out among its neighbours. The towering steeple of the Pariosse Saint-Jean-Baptiste looms over the entire facility.
All the monkeys aren’t in the zoo. Some spend most of their lives teaching intellectually gifted children. Some hide out in bars, hosting karaoke nights and encouraging shy souls to set their spirits free on stage. Some teach the elderly mental aerobics. Or perhaps some do nothing but children's sporting events.
