Members of Ottawa’s Métis community joined the Ottawa police to celebrate Métis culture and the legacy of leader Louis Riel, in a ceremony held at police headquarters today on the anniversary of Riel’s execution. Despite concern that many of its recommendations will never be implemented — including proposals for more green space in downtown Ottawa — a finalized version of the Centretown Community Design Plan has been released after undergoing extensive review by local community organizations.
Centretown community health centres are touting the conclusions of a new report that echoes their argument in favour of more connected and better-funded community health care.
A planned footbridge over the O-Train tracks in the southwest corner of Centretown is drawing fire from the Dalhousie Community Association, which is concerned the proposed crossing may be too narrow and “dangerously” positioned.
