Peace Tower Church has been at 343 Bronson Ave. for more than 100 years. Built in 1901 of light grey stones, this regal building has enough seating in its pews for about 1,100 people, facing a large pipe organ and raised, semi-circle altar.
Upon entering St. Patrick’s Basilica, one is immediately welcomed by the sweet smell of incense which is burned throughout the day. Next, the visitor is drawn to the impressive gothic-style architecture and decoration.
The floors creak, the fireplaces have seen better days and the draftiness makes the ice difficult to maintain. But there’s something very charming about the Ottawa Curling Club.
Ottawa Normal School was a respected institution that is nearly as old as the city of Ottawa. Not surprisingly, the historic building is the location of the mayor’s office today.
