After three decades of serving up a taste of Germany on Slater Street, German Town Deli announced it is closing its doors on Jan. 29.
Owner Perry Schneider says he will retire at the end of this month and close the traditional German deli for good after more than 30 years in business.
Postmedia Network Canada Corporation announced Tuesday it will lay off Ottawa Sun employees and merged the newspaper with the Ottawa Citizen.
“The Sun will be cutting 12 people and the rest will merge with the Citizen,” said Alison Mah, an assistant digital editor at the Ottawa Citizen. “The Citizen and the Sun will still be two distinct brands…and the merger will be effective tomorrow.”

In order to keep the sidewalks safe during the winter months, the City of Ottawa has increased the number of do-it-yourself “grit boxes” in various locations across the city, including Centretown.
