Lansdowne Park has entered the second stage of the rest of its life.
Public consultations wrapped up March 27 at the St. Laurent Recreation Complex, the last of five meetings held throughout Ottawa. Now, the three groups from the private sector bidding for the rights to Lansdowne are putting the final touches on their proposals, which will be given to city council in order to make a final decision on the park’s future. The proposals will be submitted on June 8.

When Lani Fairchild needs cigarettes or bus tickets, she only has to go around the corner to Elgin Street. But because she is in a wheelchair, shopping near her home is never that easy.
Fairchild, 49, says that although she could get through the inclined front entrance of the Zesty Market on Elgin, there are newspaper stands blocking her way.
The City of Ottawa is planning to scrap its funding for the Rooming House Response Team on June 30, hopeful the regional government will pick up the tab.
The city currently gives about $65,000 to the program annually. A planning and economic development committee draft proposal recommends shifting this responsibility to the region.
Microsoft and Corel are expanding their software war to Ottawa-area schools in an effort to win the hearts and minds of students and their parents.
“The school is a very important strategy in this marketing process,” says Marita Moll, head of technology and research at the Canadian Teachers’ Federation. “They’re building product loyalty.”
