Oscar contenders premiere locally

There is one rule for the European Union Film Festival happening this year at the Library and Archives Canada building from Nov. 13 to 30: The films must be Ottawa premieres. Tom McSorley and Jarrett Zaroski, two organizers that choose the films, travel around the world scouting out exceptional films that havent been screened in Ottawa. This year, theyve even managed to snag some serious Oscar contenders.

New exhibit supports community health

McKenney supports ghost bikes despite complaints

Despite the recent complaints by Ottawa residents regarding the sometimes prolonged existence of ghost bikes – impromptu memorials to cyclists killed in road accidents – Somerset Ward’s new councillor-elect Catherine McKenney doesn’t see any reason to rethink these reminders of lives lost, including one in Centretown.
