It seems the conventional wisdom in Canada is that if you want your children to succeed in life they must go to university. Not college. Not a trade school. University. If it’s the high-paying job, the new car and the house in the suburbs you’re looking for, it’s off to U of T, McGill or Dalhousie you go.
If you want to get a job in Ottawa, it certainly helps if you know French. In this city, it’s not just jobs with the government that require bilingualism. Any job, from sales positions to engineering, might ask for proficiency in both of our official languages.

The campaign for the civic election in October seems already well underway. Candidates for Somerset ward have been seen kocking on doors and campaigning around Centretown. Residents here are lucky to live in a ward with four strong candidates challenging the formidable incumbant Diane Holmes.
