Sparks Street landlords are marketing their location as an ideal place for one of Ottawa’s two permanent casinos.
The site has not been announced yet, but Ken Dale, of the Sparks Street Improvement Area, says landlords are actively pursuing the companies who won the casino bids in September, offering potential sites on Sparks Street.

After a weekend of hard work, pay day finally arrived for three curling teams who cashed in big at the Rideau Curling Club in the finals of the Welton Beauchamp Classic.
The finals took place Nov. 10 and marked the end of the four day bonspiel, which was held at five local Ottawa curling clubs. The total purse of $116,500 made the Welton one of the richest tournaments in Canadian curling.
Nobody at Canada Post seems to see the big picture. One wonders whether those in this declining service realize the publicity nightmare a strike is causing.
Managers and employees can blame each other all they want. But, at the end of the day, Canadians will be looking for alternatives to the post office.
Peter Harris thought it was the race he couldn’t lose — but did.
The former city councillor for Centretown lost his bid to become regional councillor for Bay ward Nov. 10 when he was defeated by Wendy Byrne, a lawyer, by 182 votes.
Harris wants to contest the results because some polling stations ran out of ballots and people left before voting.
