Face-off continues over shortage of ice time at arenas

Ottawa minor hockey officials say new arenas are needed to ease pressure on teams scrambling for ice time.

But city council is sticking by its stance that the issue is not so serious.

“There is no ice available in the city,” says Tony Clark, president of the Ottawa Centre Hockey Association. “Available ice is shrinking while ice demand has been growing — that makes for a difficult time.” read more

University rowers put new face on historic boat race

The University of Ottawa and Carleton University have successfully revived a Canadian rowing tradition dating back to the Second World War.

This marked the first year the two Ottawa schools went head-to-head for the P.D. Ross trophy.

Carleton came out the winner, finishing the 7.5-km course in 23 minutes and 30 seconds. The University of Ottawa finished just over a minute behind with a time of 24 minutes and 41 seconds. read more
