Jay Leno probably doesn’t know about Jeremy Gara, the Ottawa musician who plays in a band called Kepler and who was profiled by Julie Gauthier in the last issue of this newspaper.

Johnny Farina’s, the former location of the Elgin Street Theatre, came alive in cinematic spirit Sunday night as dozens of movie connoisseurs turned out to watch the Oscars, and to raise money for Centretown Movies’ second annual outdoor festival.

Tucked away inside the concourse in Ottawa’s city hall sits a brand new art gallery, largely hidden but for two large glass doors beckoning passersby inside. The gallery’s christening last month was an exhibition of the City’s recently acquired works by regional artists.
