Sparks St. store feels left out

The shop which has been the centre and circumference of the proposed plaza is Canada’s Four Corners. This store, part of Sparks Street since 1968, had the most to lose, actually, everything to lose. This has been expressed in the Ottawa Citizen more than once.

I did not feel or hear any “street” sympathy throughout those years of waiting, and certainly the most vocal was our former mayor Jim Watson, and representative Elisabeth Arnold. I am sure their comments are heeded.

Your article is certainly appreciated, but I would hope your reporter could have interviewed others closest to the “eye of the storm.”

Maybe she did not know “the proposed project would have meant the destruction of buildings on Metcalfe Street to build a public plaza” was actually Canada’s Four Corners, the second oldest heritage building on Sparks Street.

Jack Cook,

Canada’s Four Corners,

Sparks Street
