The Odawa Native Friendship Centre, 12 Stirling Ave., is holding an arts and craft sale from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Lunch will also be available. Proceeds will go towards the “Food for Friends” Christmas hampers and toys for Ottawa’s aboriginal residents. For information call 613-232-0016.

The 37th annual Help Santa Toy Parade will be again be collecting toys for the city’s underprivileged children. Bank Street north and south will be closed from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., with rolling closures east and west from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. as the parade proceeds down the street. The Laurier Street Bridge and the Queen Elizabeth Driveway from Lisgar Street to Laurier Avenue will be closed from 8 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

The Seniors of Ottawa Christmas Craft Show will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m, in the Jean Pigott Hall, Ottawa City Hall, 110 Laurier Ave. W., Admission is free. Gifts of all kinds.

Nov. 24

St. Andrew’s Church, 82 Kent St., is holding a Scottish Tea and Bazaar from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Attic treasures, baking, books, crafts, games, jewelry will be featured as well as a silent auction and team room.

Dec. 4

Taking the Heat: African Farmers and Climate Change is the topic of a public forum from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Bronson Centre, 211 Bronson Ave. Learn how African farmers and rural communities are coping with the impact of climate change. What solutions can Africans offer and how can Canadians help? The forum is sponsored by the Canadian Food Security Policy Group and the Canadian Coalition on Climate Change and Development. The Good Companions Centre has an interesting variety of volunteer opportunities: dining room server, cashier, receptionist, telephone receptionist. The auxiliary of the Ottawa Humane Society meets at 1:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month at the Real Canadian Superstore, 190 Richmond Rd. New members are welcome.
