Lettter: Galpin not safety group chair

Re: Parole office consultations still not underway, March 28

This article provides an excellent overview of the continuing struggle Centretown residents have in dealing with the temporary location of the Ottawa Parole Office on Elgin and Gilmour.

One point of clarification is required: I was not commenting as chair of the Centretown Citizens Community Association's safety sommittee, but as a  concerned resident of Centretown.

The CCCA position regarding the Ottawa Parole Office was put in a letter in 2007 from former president David Blaine to Public Safety Minister Stockwell Day.

That letter indicated that the CCCA appreciates the commitment to relocate the Parole Office by 2009, “but a clear mechanism should exist for full and ongoing public consultation.”

Sadly there still does not seem to be a clear mechanism for these consultations. Time is running out. Where is the Parole Office moving to?
