After critics called them too vague, city council is amending guidelines set for stroller use on OC Transpo buses to include more driver training.
The amendment, which was passed Wednesday, keeps the current guidelines, only adding that bus drivers will now receive special training to help them deal with conflicting passenger needs.
However, according to media reports, city staff have stated that drivers already receive this training and critics have been quick to state that the amendment does nothing to further clarify rules on a crowded bus.
Stroller use on OC Transpo buses has been a heated debate, after disability advocates proposed new rules which would restrict the type and number of strollers on the bus.
These rules were rejected last month in favour of the current policy which allows strollers to be in the aisle if the priority seating is filled and asks parents to fold their strollers only if they block the movement of other passengers.
