Re: The debate over CCTV, centretownnewsonline.ca
As a member of the Ottawa Police Services, Const. Nathan Hoedeman is surely familiar with the legal tenet that you are innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.
Despite a lack of evidence and using only conjecture at his disposal, Const. Hoedeman has implicated Israel directly, finding it guilty of involvement in the death of senior Hamas terrorist Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in Dubai in January.
His contention that CCTV systems had enabled police to “identify the Israelis assassins responsible for the attacks in Dubai” is based on circumstantial, not verifiable, evidence.
Had he stated that these were just his contentions and not matters of fact, then there wouldn't have been a problem.
While Israel continues to neither deny nor confirm any involvement under their policy known as "ambiguity," it’s worth noting that numerous other Middle Eastern countries had a bone to pick with al-Mabhouh and that Israel might have been framed by a foreign country’s intelligence services.
Const. Hoedeman, like the international and Canadian media, has a responsibility to report on this matter without prejudice and based only on the evidence that is available.
