Commitment to quench city’s thirst with tap water questioned
If you build it they will come. It’s a tired old phrase and perhaps less relevant now than it once was. Evidence of this is that Ottawa has built a drinking water infrastructure valued at more than a $1 billion and spends $121 million a year to pipe clean water to Ottawa homes. But despite this, only 53 per cent of the city’s residents say they drink tap water exclusively while at home.
Court tosses out lawsuit against community activist
A $3.8-million lawsuit against community activist Albert Galpin has been thrown out by a Superior Court judge after he ruled that “it was not unlawful in making a request for information that is specifically permitted by legislation.”
City Council to decide on Metcalfe Street sidewalks
City council will consider widening the overcapacity sidewalks along Metcalfe Street between Gloucester and Wellington streets now that the city’s transportation committee has given the plan the green light.
