Bank Street is closed Saturday and Sunday between Flora Street and Gladstone Avenue.
A mobile crane was set up at 5 a.m. on Saturday to aid construction of a condominium at the former site of the Metropolitan Bible Church.
OC Transpo buses are taking a detour on Catherine Street and turning onto Kent Street before resuming their regular routes at Bank and Gladstone.
According to the City of Ottawa, the road is expected to remain closed until 4 p.m. on Sunday. Local and emergency traffic is still being allowed.
One sidewalk is still open, and pedestrians were seen Saturday afternoon gathering at a gas station across the street to watch the construction.
