Dalhousie Park

Nestled at 343 Bell St. in an area crowded with houses and apartments, Dalhousie Park is a welcome patch of green in the concrete jungle.

Dalhousie Park is a small, fenced park, but offers its visitors a playground, plenty of picnic tables and benches, a covered gazebo, as well as ample green space.

The park is dog owner-friendly, with a gate that closes to fence in the entire park. Cyclists can also be accommodated, with a bike rack located just outside of the fence in front of the park.

Because it is located on a quiet street, the park doesn’t get as much traffic. But the benches on the outside of the fence are used by pedestrian passers-by who want to stop and relax.

There is a large picnic table located at the centre of the park’s gazebo and it has a built-in metal checkerboard. There is a container for its pieces, but all of the pieces are missing.

The park’s trees help separate the different areas of the park – the playground, the seating, the gazebo, and the grassy space. They give park a feeling of having separate rooms, the playground for children, the grassy area for pets, and the seating areas for parents and visitors.

The park, though small and quaint, is well-designed and uses the space well. It is some unexpected scenery tucked away between Little Italy and Bronson Avenue.
