Upon entering St. Patrick’s Basilica, one is immediately welcomed by the sweet smell of incense which is burned throughout the day. Next, the visitor is drawn to the impressive gothic-style architecture and decoration.
The floors creak, the fireplaces have seen better days and the draftiness makes the ice difficult to maintain. But there’s something very charming about the Ottawa Curling Club.
Ottawa Normal School was a respected institution that is nearly as old as the city of Ottawa. Not surprisingly, the historic building is the location of the mayor’s office today.
At first glance, the Canadian Museum of Nature seems a little out of place. Housed in the grandiose, a castle-like Victoria Memorial Museum building on McLeod Street, the building would seem better suited to the rolling hills of medieval Europe than the middle of a bustling Ottawa neigbourhood where it currently sits.
