Thousands gathered outside the Canadian Museum of Civilization July 27 to watch homemade devices take flight over the Ottawa River for the Ottawa-Gatineau edition of the Red Bull Flugtag. Thirty teams vied for the $7,500 grand prize, launching everything from flying bananas to giant beavers off the 22-foot pier in hopes of flying the farthest.
